In 1872, the Irish author Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu published his vampire novel a quarter of a century before Bram Stroker's Dracula. The story follows a young woman who is preyed upon by a vampire named Carmilla.
The novel has since been frequently republished and anthologized as an example of early gothic literature as well as queer representation.
North Meridian Press is happy to release this critical edition with annotations and scholarly essay from historian BJ Bruther.
