11/10/25, “Public Hearing Regarding the Liquor License Application of …”
A letter is read by a concerned citizen regarding a local pizza place
appealing for a liquor license, “…this will be the sixth business
on or around the square
to serve alcohol on their premises….”
The citizen has concerns:
Drunken students trespassing on her and neighbors’ property
with footsteps, nescience, and synovial expurgation
not her words but mine; to say it plain:
she wished to do without nightly watering of her flower beds.
All the same, the new council hears it all in silence;
it’s a valid concern, they seem to think, but who can do business
in a college town without spirits free to drink?
And so it goes,
they take a vote,
and every one confirms
a “Yea”
without any further discussion.
