“Roots That Never Die,” Art, Nada Anwar Rajab.

Nada Anwar Rajab is an artist, teacher, and scholar in Gaza. Her work has persisted through the ongoing genocide being led by US-Israeli forces. Her work as an educator and artist has appeared frequently at North Meridian Press. Today we are announcing a regular column of her work. To lead this series off we present her work— “Roots That Never Die.”

As Nada explains, “This is a piece I created while carrying incredibly heavy emotions, shaped by the effects of the genocide and repeated displacement at the time, on January 2, 2025. It was a moment when I tried to pour some of the pain and everything I was feeling onto paper. Perhaps that is why I was unable to share this work until now. Today, I am sharing it for the first time, simply to say: Life may change, and so many things around us may be uprooted, but the roots within the women of Gaza never truly die!”
